Haiti Update 01/29/10:
Tremendous thanks to our incredible volunteers and donors! As you can imagine, things are changing day by day in Haiti. One thing that has stayed constant is the help we have received from volunteers. Our initial plan was to send two separate 20 foot containers to Haiti, but because of the response we've had, we are now able to make our first shipment on a 40 foot container. That is over 285,000 meals! We are immediately beginning work on a second container! So - we will continue to need volunteers and donations.
Because of changes made at Missionary Flights International, we will not be able to send our food through them. Through God's grace and lots of hard work by our friends at Viva Kids, we will now be working with an organization called Food for the Poor. On February 9, they will be picking up our food in West Virginia and putting it on a ship to Haiti. They estimate that it will take 7-10 days for the ship to arrive. They will then hand out the food to various Christian organizations and missionaries who need the food. It is still our plan to have several of our staff on sight to help distribute the food.
Thank you for the amazing response, and please continue to give and help. We have seen God do amazing things already, and we trust Him to continue to do so.

Heaven Sent Ministries was founded in September 1997 by Pastor Lyle Mullins. Responding to the leading of God, he and his close friends, Pete Espeseth and Rick Sadler, started the nonprofit organization to help believers participate in short-term missions. It began as a facilitating agency to assist those going on mission to obtain passports, visas and other paperwork required for traveling to other countries. As the agency grew, HSM began to lead trips to places like Guatemala, Nicaragua, Africa and India.
Today, HSM has evolved into a multi-faceted organization. The focus and passion of the ministry is to win people to Christ and to equip the saints for ministry. This is in harmony with our mission statement, "Assisting the church in reaching the world for Christ." We accomplish this mission in several different ways:
Short-term Missions
Domestic
We host teams at our headquarters in Princeton, WV. Teams travel from all parts of the U.S. to stay with us for a week or a long weekend to minister to the people of Appalachia.
International
We offer short-term mission opportunities in more than 20 countries for groups and for individuals. We partner with missionaries and mission organizations by providing them with personnel, resources and prayer.
Medical teams enable the ministry to reach into villages that otherwise would be resistant to the gospel. Doctors and medical personnel share the love of Christ through their compassion for the physically ill, opening the door to spiritual healing as well.

Feeding the poor
We believe that we must minister to the whole man in order to be effective in our evangelistic outreach. That is why we package and deliver nutritious meals to starving people around the world. We know that when we reach out in a tangible way, God will open the door for us to tell people of His great love.
